Caracal Models “Heroes of the Kosciuszko” Mig-29 (CD72010)

This sheet was kindly offered to me by Caracal Models as a raffle prize in the Grumman Ironworks GB over at ARC. The sheet is beautifully printed by Cartograf and Caracal went into great lengths to get the colours and the markings (especially the polish stencils!) right.

It contains stencils for one full aircraft (with some spares) and markings for three stunning schemes of the polish AF in 2012:

  1. “56”, MiG-29 with a back logo in colour
  2. “111”, MiG-29 with a back marking in gray
  3. “15”, MiG-29UB with a back logo in colour

The scale of the drawings is not exactly 1/72 but the scaling factor (1.33) is given so it will be very easy to get the camo scheme right (very similar to what Hasegawa does on their instruction sheets).

Now I look forward to seeing Zvezda’s announced release of a Fulcrum, hopefully it will come soon and be as good as their Flanker SM! Until then it seems your best bet is the Italeri kit.
